john kurtz was in two fights over the weekend

welcome to sticks and pucks where I do away with proper grammar and more or less recount my tweets.

Anaheim played two more pre-season games this weekend, one in San Jose and another at home against the Avs.   Viktor Fasth and Jonas Hiller started, respectively, and had decent performances. Igor Bobkov was the back-up in each of these games. I have no idea what to make of that, since no news came out about Freddie or John Gibson being injured.  In reality, I think all three of them are headed back today (Monday).

DSP and Pat Maroon’s battle for the fringe is still unclear.  DSP and Maroon both had assists against the Sharks. DSP set up Emerson Etem while Maroon set up Corey Perry. The game was eventually won in OT by Ducks Dman Ben Lovejoy, who was a nice pick-up for Anaheim.  Etem is also a bit of a fringe player, and got involved in a nasty collision with who else but Raffi Torres. Nothing came out of that. Sami Vatanen was also injured, though the extent of that is unknown beyond “lower-body”.

Sunday’s game didn’t see as much Admirals action. John Kurtz got in a fight, just like he did against the Sharks. He should be coming back to Norfolk Monday. Former Ad Kyle Palmieri did notch a goal in the Ducks loss to the Avs, with an assist from Francois Beauchemin. Good news for Ducks fans, as Beauch had torn an ACL.

The Ducks have two more pre-season games left. They go north to play the Kings on Tuesday and then host the Sharks on Saturday.  Also on Saturday the Admirals will have their home pre-season game against the Checkers, after playing in North Carolina on Friday. Tickets for that game are still available for $10 at the Scope Box Office!
