david steckel signs a pto. perhaps.

On Sunday, the Anaheim Ducks got dealt a big blow to their team when veteran center Saku Koivu was knocked out of the game on a hit by Columbus’ Brandon Dubinsky. More roster changes incoming.

With Koivu out, the first thing the Ducks did was recall excellent center Rickard Rakell from the Ads.  With Matty P feeling better, there’s a good chance that Rakell will not play in the next game against the Flyers. Here’s where the Admirals get a shake-up:  journeyman center David Steckel may be in Norfolk on a PTO. Nothing is official yet, though he was released from his PTO with the Iowa Wild. In 34 games last year between Toronto and Anaheim, he netted all of 7 total points. His calling is “faceoff specialist” which I guess makes him a slightly more offensive Rod Pelley He may not be in Norfolk long. With Matty P back, we might see Rakell back down and Steckel on the big club.  None the less, the Ads will get to have another new #1 center.  Ducks, please get healthy.
