john gibson wins award, luca sbisa makes a trip

Quick news post before the Ads take on the Albany Devils tonight. First, John Gibson won the CCM/AHL Goaltender of the Month Award!  The American netminder did this by registering a .953 save percentage and 1.44 GAA while helping the team to a 3-1-2 record in his starts. Gibson has played magnificently since Frederik Andersen was called up by Anaheim. Since the AHL wanted to share, Nikita Kucherov of the rival Syracuse Crunch was named Rookie of the Month (8 G+7 A=15 Pts).  The two rookie phenoms will meet next week at Scope in what should be an intense weekend of AHL action.

Sbisa gets two

Anaheim Ducks D Luca Sbisa will play 2 games this week as part of his long-term conditioning stint with the Ads.  Coach Bruce Boudreau of the Ducks says he will play against Albany tonight and Bridgeport on Saturday before returning to the Ducks.  Sbisa’s place back in the Anaheim line-up will have ripple effects felt back in Norfolk.
