game 15 + some transaction news

Anaheim takes on Tampa Bay tonight. Yes, the Admirals are playing, well, the Admirals in a cross-conference matchup. Both teams are missing key contributors.  On to more Norfolk-related stuff.

freddy and sami are back!

Good news on the home front as the Admirals got back stellar goaltender Frederik Andersen and high-powered defenseman Sami Vatanen. With Viktor Fasth healthy, the Ducks didn’t have enough room on their roster for three goalies. Andersen will combine with John Gibson to create the best goaltending tandem in the East Division. Too bad the team in front of them is kinda awful right now.

Luca Sbisa‘s return to health created a logjam at the blue line for the Ducks. Thanks to Hampus Lindholm‘s stellar play, Vatanen became the guy to send down.  Hopefully, the Finnish d-man can add some life to a power play that has been struggling as of late.

Peter Holland was recalled from the Admirals up to the Ducks. With a flu bug going around the team, Holland may have been recalled as an extra body. It looks very likely that the Ducks will be missing Corey Perry and Ryan Getzlaf tonight.

game 15: vs Manchester

Weekday games are one thing. At 10 AM? Who thought this was a good idea? With reinforcements Viktor Fasth and Matt Beleskey in the lineup, this was gonna turn out okay! It didn’t. Fasth gave up 3 goals on 30 shots in less than two full period, though Beleskey did contribute a goal.

Norfolk got outshot 42-24 because well, of course they did. After a nice start to the month, the Ads are headed in a very bad direction. If this continues, a few things might have to be done to change things up. Trent Yawney may need to be let go and replaced by assistant Jarrod Skalde and a trade might need to happen. Norfolk takes on Providence and Manchester again this weekend.
