Tuesday saw some very important movement as it relates to the Admirals.
After being eliminated in the first round of the ECHL playoffs, the Utah Grizzlies had a few players who were eligible to come to Norfolk. Two of those players, Charlie Sarault and Norm Ezekiel, are once again back on the East Coast. Extra bodies are always welcome for the playoffs, as each game can have serious consequences. Sarault had a strong run for the Grizzlies, earning 11 points in 8 regular season games and 4 points in 5 post-season games.
Unfortunately, the Ads lose William Karlsson. The center made a nice late-season debut, netting 9 points in 9 games during the regular season. He put up a solitary point in two postseason games, though his goal on Saturday was the game-winner against Manchester. He’s headed off to Team Sweden to play in the IIHF World Championships. I’m a bit surprised by this, I don’t know why Anaheim would rather have him there as opposed to continuing North American club competition. Either way, he’s still playing hockey and developing. Norfolk loses a key piece, and with Rickard Rakell solidifying himself in Anaheim, Sarault will likely have to perform as well as he did in Utah.
Grinder Norm Ezekiel played 4 post-season games and did not score.
