bakersfield signs another for ’15-16: alexis loiseau

Another possible Admiral.

Edmonton continues to stock their minor league system for next year with another AHL signing. The latest is Alexis Loiseau, who captained the QMJHL Champion Rimouski Oceanic this year. In the CHL’s highest scoring division, Loiseau put up some truly eye-popping numbers. In the 2015 playoffs alone, Loiseau finished third in scoring behind Tampa Bay 2013 2nd-rounder Adam Erne and 2014 Jets first rounder Nikolaj Ehlers.

During the regular season, Loiseau finished sixth amongst all skaters with 96 points, finishing 6th in assists. Loiseau was not drafted and has been given his first opportunity on an AHL contract with the Bakersfield Condors. An AHL contract means that Loiseau can either play in Bakersfield or in Norfolk. AHL teams are generally stocked with NHL contracts, and most AHL contracts sticking around belong to veterans (think of players like Dave Steckel and Nathan McIver). I’d expect to see Loiseau in Norfolk this fall.
