Ads crease to get less crowded
The Admirals goalie situation is about to sort itself out. The Baie-Comeau Drakkar reported Thursday on their website that Phillipe Cadorette will be returning to the junior squad. Cadorette is going to be the back-up this weekend, then travel back to Quebec during the Christmas break.
Going back to the Q is probably the best option for Cadorette. The goalie was decent enough during his last season in the Q, but he’s struggled so far in the pros. Cadorette’s only played a full game once, and sports an .820 save percentage. Getting some time back in the Q might improve Cadorette’s confidence and make him a better pro going forward. Right now, he’s not the answer for the Admirals.
Cadorette’s return to the Drakkar points to a few possible options. One, Adam Courchaine is probably getting the nod this weekend against Adirondack. The recent acquisition didn’t play well Wednesday, though he did turn in decent performances on the road trip.
Two, Nick Riopel might be back. While he’s on the 21-day IR, he’s met the retroactive dates. If he’s back, that solves a few problems for the Ads.
Finally, it may point to Laurent Brossoit’s return to injury, which would mean Ty Rimmer back to the Ads. Rimmer makes the Admirals a better team, no doubt about it.
