I know, right?
Unfortunately, the Norfolk Admirals lost last night to Orlando. Instead of talking about that, how about this trade! Montreal sent 2012 Calder Cup Champion netminder Dustin Tokarski to Anaheim for beloved Ducks-era winger Max Friberg.
Tokarski has bounced between Montreal and St. John’s this year, due to an injury to All-World goalie Carey Price. Not quite the solution at the NHL level the Habs were looking for, they brought in extra help in the form of former Bakersfield Condor Ben Scrivens. Moving Scrivens brought Ty Rimmer back to to the Admirals, of course. Now, Tokarksi is in the role of back-up or AHL #1 or something. Okay, he’s going to the AHL.
Eric Stephens says the trade is not in response to John Gibson (Admiral netminder!!!!) getting injured last night. Does this mean another trade coming from the Ducks, perhaps with Frederik Andersen (Admiral netminder) or Anton Khudobin? No one is sure, but who knows after yesterday’s wacky trade hijinks!
Max Friberg is a promising winger who was a fan favorite in Norfolk and on the West Coast. Friberg plays all three phases of the game, and could be a suitable replacement on the bottom-six for Montreal. He might end up taking the spot of…Devante Smith-Pelly?
Best of luck to these Ads Alumni, then!
