Norfolk isn’t making the playoffs but they’ve shown they can compete with the best teams in the Eastern Conference. The Ads have managed to get at least a point, if not a victory, in their past few games against a rotating list of conference leaders like Manchester, Toledo, and Florida. Some of it is too little, too late, but it is another sign pointing in a positive direction.

The big news today is the call-up of Ty Rimmer to the Condors. Bakersfield is currently 2 points behind San Jose, but this doesn’t quite matter because of the AHL kowtowing to the California teams and having them use points percentage. What I’m saying here is Bakersfield could make the playoffs, I guess? Rimmer’s call-up either means Nik Lundstrom is coming back to Norfolk (an .878 SV% in 3 games isn’t good) or someone is hurt. ┬áNorfolk plays tomorrow, and there’s no news of Lundstrom coming back yet. Insert Nick Niedert. He’s been a minor pro for a long time and played 2 games for Reading this year.
