Norfolk completed a series of “future considerations” trades on Monday and Tuesday, thus preparing them for tomorrow’s season-ending rosters. The Admirals did not receive anyone back for a trade.
Defenseman Cole Martin was traded to Fort Wayne to complete the deal which sent Dean Ouellet to the Ads. Martin played 23 games for the Ads, with 5 assists. He did appear to lose playing time at the end of the season. Coincidentally, EliteProspects reports Ouellet is headed to Riviere-du-Loup 3L of the LNAH. Ouellet scored 12 points in 32 games for the Ads.
Another completed trade may have sent Dylan Gilbert to the Rapid City Rush for the Danick Gauthier trade. Gauthier had 9 points in 13 games for the Admirals, which makes this a win for the team. Finally, Mike Seidel is involved in a complicated multi-part trade. First, the Indy Fuel sent Seidel to Atlanta for Alex Lavoie. Then, the Gladiators sent Seidel to the Ads to complete the Corey Fienhage deal. The Ads traded Mike Ratchuk for Fienhage, who promptly played zero games before being sent to Atlanta. Seidel had 30 points in 54 games between Indy and Elmira.
All of this is house-cleaning, and there’s no guarantee any of these players will be back with the Admirals (or their own teams) next year. Rod Aldoff also doesn’t have quite the same attachment to these players, so it’s hard to gauge who will be back. The ECHL offseason continues.
