Another AHL contract

Fresh on the heels of signing Frankie Simonelli, the Bakersfield Condors announced another player contract this week. They’ve elected to sign rookie forward Jaedon Descheneau, who spent his time with the Kootenay Ice of the WHL. Descheneau is originally a 2014 Blues draft pick, but was not signed by St. Louis. Said decision probably rests on Descheneau injuring his shoulder very early last season.  The Alberta native did put up 98 points in his draft year, and followed it up with an 81 point campaign. Bakersfield is banking on his potential.

Descheneau makes a lot of sense as an Admirals player. He’s unsigned by his original draft team and coming off a season-ending injury.  Adjusting to the speed of the pro game could take time, and it’s probably best to do it in a situation where he could frequently see the ice.  Norfolk still does not have any one publicly signed to an ECHL deal, and it’s almost August.  Jaedeon Descheneau is a decent bet to make the team, at least.
